What is Android?

Android is a software stack for mobil devices that includes an operating system, middleware and key applications. The Android SDK provides the tools and APIs necessary to begin developing applications on the Android platform using the Java programming language.

Features

Bluetooth, EDGE, 3G, and WiFi (hardware dependent)
Camera, GPS, compass, and accelerometer (hardware dependent)
Rich development environment including a device emulator, tools for debugging, memory and performance profiling, and a plugin for the Eclipse IDE
Linux Kernel

Android relies on Linux version 2.6 for core system services such as security, memory management, process management, network stack, and driver model. The kernel also acts as an abstraction layer between the hardware and the rest of the software stack.

Contains high-level classes encapsulating the overall Android application model.

An Android application is defined using one or more of Android’s four core application components. Two such application components are defined in this package: Activity and Service. The other two components are from the android.content package: BroadcastReceiver and ContentProvider.

An Activity is an application component that provides a screen with which users can interact in order to do something, such as dial the phone, take a photo, send an email, or view a map. An activity can start other activities, including activities that live in separate applications.

A Service is an application component that can perform long-running operations in the background without a user interface. For example, a service can handle network transactions, play music, or work with a content provider without the user being aware of the work going on.

The Fragment class is also an important part of an application’s design—especially when designing for large screen devices, such as tablets. A fragment defines a distinct part of an activity’s behavior, including the associated UI. It has its own lifecycle that is similar to that of the activity and can exist alongside other fragments that are embedded in the activity. While an activity is running, you can add and remove fragments and include each fragment in a back stack that’s managed by the activity—allowing the user to navigate backwards through the fragment states, without leaving the activity.

This package also defines application utilities, such as dialogs, notifications, and the action bar.

For information about using some the classes in this package, see the following documents: Activities, Services, Fragments, Using the Action Bar, Creating Dialogs, and Notifying the User.

Microsoft to Acquire Skype

Microsoft Corp. is nearing a deal to buy the popular Internet telephone service Skype. That could be the biggest deal in the 36-year history of Microsoft Corp.($6 billion purchase of the online ad service aQuantive in 2007 was biggest till now)

Microsoft is buying skype for $8.5 billion, so Skype will be a new division of Microsoft. So it shall be integrated in many Microsoft products like Windows Phone, XBox Live and many more. “We will move beyond email and text to rich experiences. Talking to colleagues across the world will be as seamless as talking to them across the table,” CEO Steve Ballmer predicted. “This allows us to extend from hundreds of millions to billions of people. We think this is a set of services that can reach everyone on the planet,” says Skype CEO Tony Bates. The agreement has been approved by the boards of directors of both Microsoft and Skype.
They know that 40% of total usage of skype is video. So skype and xbox are being used more like a home video conference system. It shall connect you to those people who you often talk to most of the time.
Buying Skype would give Microsoft a potentially valuable communications tool both for personal computers and smart phones. The acquisition will increase the accessibility of real-time video and voice communications, bringing benefits to both consumers and enterprise users and generating significant new business and revenue opportunities. The combination will extend Skype’s world-class brand and the reach of its networked platform, while enhancing Microsoft’s existing portfolio of real-time communications products and services.
Skype is having a 663 million users worldwide who make voice and video calls over the Internet. The amount of calling on Skype's network totaled 207 billion minutes last year,Still Skype lost $7 million on revenue of $860 million last year.

About Skype:

Skype is communications software whose purpose is to break down barriers to communication. With an Internet-connected device, families, friends and colleagues can get together for free with messaging, voice and video. At low cost, they can also call landlines or mobiles virtually anywhere in the world. Skype has recently introduced group video, allowing groups of more than two people to do things together whenever they're apart. Founded in 2003 and based in Luxembourg. Skype can be downloaded onto computers, mobile phones and other connected devices for free.

Trojan Virus Gemini Has been Discovered in Android

The Android platform, which has seen rapid increase in malware attacks in the last year, has been once again targeted by a new Android malware dubbed “Gemini”. Mobile Security research firm Lookout discovered the Gemini trojan security risk through user postage in a forum and the security firm has said that it is the most decorated Android malware it has seen till date.
With every release of software and all there is always chance of virus so called being developed and same thing happened here as there has been developed A new Trojan affecting Android devices which was recently emerged in China.Naming which is known as “Geinimi”. This was infant discovered by a Mobile Security Company out there and this virus is automatically attached with some legitimate apps such as Monkey Jump 2, Sex Positions, President vs. Aliens, City Defense and Baseball Superstars 2010.
This works When a host application containing Geinimi is launched on a user’s phone and of course that is in Android powered phone this Trojan runs in the background and collects significant information that can compromise a user’s privacy on your device and These specific information like location coordinates and unique identifiers for the device (IMEI) and SIM card (IMSI). which is all that a hacker needs so this is completed almost of five minute intervals and once it connects this Geinimi attempts to connect to a remote server using one of ten embedded domain names in its codes.

In order to get infected, you would have to install an sideload app from a 3rd party or Chinese Market, meaning the trojan doesn’t come to your phone by way of the official Android Market. Thus this isn’t a giant threat. Here are some of thesubset of the domain names like www.widifu.com,www.udaore.com,www.frijd.com,www.islpast.com and www.piajesj.com.
If it connects, Geinimi transmits collected device information to the remote server which can be very harmful so be careful if you are going on for Android!!.

So here is a new and recent update for Mobile Security has been updated its version to protect your Android Phone against these kind of Trojans so you can get the Lookout for Free and its one of the best free security system for Android

India's fastest supercomputer by ISRO

Hi guys.. Indians are done it again. Though Indian is having several problems such as Corruption, black money etc,It wont affact the growth of a India. And ISRO has been proving it from years together.Hats off to ISRO.

Indian Space Research Organisation has built a supercomputer, which is to be India's fastest in terms of theoretical peak performance of 220 TeraFLOPS (220 Trillion Floating Point Operations per second).

The supercomputer "SAGA-220", built by the Satish Dhawan Supercomputing Facility located at Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC), Thiruvananthapuram at a cost of about Rs 14 crore was inaugurated by K Radhakrishnan, Chairman ISRO at Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC), Thiruvananthapuram.

The new Graphic Processing Unit (GPU) based supercomputer, "SAGA-220" (Supercomputer for Aerospace with GPU Architecture-220 TeraFLOPS) is being used by space scientists for solving complex aerospace problems.

"SAGA-220" is fully designed and built by Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre using commercially available hardware, open source software components and in house developments. The system uses 400 NVIDIA Tesla 2070 GPUs and 400 Intel Quad Core Xeon CPUs supplied by WIPRO with a high speed interconnect. With each GPU and CPU providing a performance of 500 GigaFLOPS and 50 GigaFLOPS respectively, the theoretical peak performance of the system amounts to 220 TeraFLOPS, the statement said.

ISRO’s existing supercomputer is only 70 teraflops, whereas this supercomputer can be ramped much higher than 220 teraflops. According to ISRO, the present GPU system offers significant advantage over the conventional CPU-based system in terms of cost, power and space requirements. The total cost of this supercomputer is about Rs 14 crore.

The present GPU system offers significant advantage over the conventional CPU based system in terms of cost, power and space requirements, it said. The system is environmentally green and consumes a power of only 150 KW. This system can also be easily scaled to many PetaFLOPS (1000 TeraFLOPS).
